"Feeling a bit sentimental lately. Missing the good old days when everything was just clear and simple. A bit sentimental that I can't slip back into those easier times, or can I? Perhaps I should track down those old friends and make contact? If possible visit old haunts, draw on the energy they used to supply. Perhaps one really can go home? It may not be exactly the same, but the old spirit still remains"
Why is the past quite so important whilst living in the present, and the future? I thought, the past, was just that - the past. I'm not too sure why am writing/debating the thought - sort of felt, I should.

I hope so much you are ok. If not,Do Something:)
hi dude.. good to hear from you but hope u feel good soon!
why not come down home for a week or more?
will definitely lift that chin up!
Hmm...!
For me, I tried to revisit my past and I find the present is better! Trying to rekindle former relationships with friends hasn't worked for me.
Each to their own, though.
Good luck and chin up ;-)
Get married boss ;-)
What's the fascination with the word "boss" - neva understood it.
Hey 5 caring comments - jee! you guys stopped by?! WOW, thanks, am all smiles :) ...didn't think anyone would, since I've been all gone for a while. So you know, the first para is part of an email from my best friend at SFO. They are not my thoughts, though I shall not deny, I often share them.
I found this piece from Helium, written by Jason Craig, so true and core to perhaps why many dwell, every now and then into the past..
"When you dwell on the past, you relive, however briefly, a moment of such goodness and pleasure, that for that infinitesimal blink of time it seems you're there again, surrounded by the people things that made that time so good. But then it passes.....
...so why do we do it? Why do we spend the present remembering the past? Why do we forsake the future in an effort to re-live days gone by? Reasons vary from person to person, but they can all be traced to one of two roots: either the memory upon which we dwell is very good or very bad; it stands out in some way, a sort of lighthouse in the sea of memory. Nobody spends much time, if any, thinking about the shower they took yesterday, or the laundry they did last week. Ordinary things, tasks done or people seen on a regular basis, aren't fodder for memory; they're forgotten in the rote of routine. It's the special moments, the excruciating or exhilarating moments, that withstand the test of time forgetfulness. It's these extraordinary moments to which our thoughts are drawn, inexplicably or deliberately, on such a regular basis.
Dwelling on the past doesn't necessarily indicate a lack of satisfaction with the present. People who live very happy lives still find themselves, in moments of quiescence and tranquility, drawn to deliberations of days of yore. It's one of the most universal acts of humanity. Just remember: do something each day to make it worth remembering tomorrow."

The past shapes who we are at the present.
hmmm well.... rekindeling past friendships that were lost along the way of life has been positive for me generally .. ofcourse there were the few with whom picking up where we left off was not worth it but then hey we are all different now ....
as for why thepast plays an important part is because we would not be who we are today had we not had the memories of yeterday ...
the most important is that hope u dop feel better .... and chirpy :-) maybe u should go swim with the dolphins
At least you wrote about it! Good to see you back on the blogs Rosh!
ummmm... I couldn't agree more with you. i too go back into the past at times and feel good about all that I have lived and experienced. I wish icould go back to my days in college. There was absolutely no long term responsibility and life was one big party!!
" It's these extraordinary moments to which our thoughts are drawn, inexplicably or deliberately, on such a regular basis."
I loved this part bec its exactly how I see the past.. its part of us and bit by bit the past has formed us into who we are right now.. living in the past isnt a good thing but remembering it is within us its part of our deep thoughts.. I can only imagine how life will be when we are old and slow.. these memories and our past that when we will sit and think about the things that we had seen and done in our lives will be so important to us as we watch in those coming times as life just passing us by as we had slowed down.. our past will always be a part of who we are.. always..
I know how you feel, I too long for a simpler life at times.
But as far as my past goes. I am glad its over and done with and I can move out of some of those ugly moments.
Whenever I feel like eating something that makes the stick insect brigade gasp, or shove a toothbrush down their throats, I say to my husband.
I have one life, and I want to live it. I want to enjoy every moment now. I have a lot of catching up to do, and belive me, its not the past, its not the future, its today that gives me the most joy.
So aap bhi, come out and play.
Is it that easy to go to the past, I doubt it !
But what I don't doubt it is that you surely feel free when you touch the past and let’s say for many it is much better than what they are in now !
Dona know how I came across you blog, but it is nice one to read :)
The past is important while living in the present because its what brought is here and we owe it to ourselves to make better those little journals of thoughts which we associate those memories with. Some which are saccharine sweet, some which we'd rather forget. But the memories remain.
Damn I hate Metallica.
I think we all go through that sometimes, remembering the past, and wanting it back. I do it quite a lot too, remembering the old times, the friends, the good times, the memories. But life goes on, and so do we.
Just think, after a couple of years, this will be the past we'll be thinking about it. Interesting, isn't it? :)
Am so sorry for not respondin sooner.
Stormy, DXB PS and VM - welcome to my blog. I agree with all that you've said. Past is as much a part of me, as the present. The difference, I suppose, is we live the present..
Thanks blog sheikh, lilly, kaya and archer for those warm sentiments.
It's quite draining thinking about the past sometimes and other times, it's refreshing and beautiful. I think it's those who don't forget who hold on to the past with a tight embrace.
I've always been the type of person who found optimism in the future. At least you can work on changing your paths to a degree.
Thanks FireFox - the future is indeed full of optimism. I agree, it's best to accept and live in the future. It'd be unfair if we constantly live in with the past.
